Editor's note

Not everyone of us has abilities to make everyday life a holiday if we speak about a real holiday that is a holiday of our heart. The constant Soviet holidays slip along the people’s consciousness though for some they help to spend considerable budgetary funds and organising these holidays are a real headache for local cultural bodies. How does fulfilment of the holiday ritual affect the sense of nation’s stability and unity? Are we celebrating or we are celebrated? What holidays do we really need? It is clear that there is no single answer but domination of red figures in our calendar gets us out of the rhythm and it makes us think of what the point of celebration is? This number presents the experts’ opinions and we are to judge. I am not against holidays as such. The matter concerns the conformity of their number, expenses incurred and collective result. Some events of local importance, being a real repose for citizens, can collect considerable funds or become a brand of a town. The famous Nizhegorodskaya or Irbitskaya fairs are good examples of it. The shoots of such holidays occur everywhere in our common life, if only they had clever and competent masters. The texts, presented in the columns “the Project” and “Master-class”, are other good examples of it. Sergey Kovalevsky offers us a different view on the ordinary holidays drawing creative space of Great Britain like “a holiday that never leaves you”. During a couple of months while we were carrying out a research to the topic in question the portfolio of the editors was filled up with interesting and actual articles about the changes in the Russian legislation. If you are concerned about the stable sources of financing of a non-profit sector organisation then you should enrich your vocabulary with one more term “endowment”. A famous Russian expert, Tatyana Abankina, looks into the peculiarities of the adaptation of this new for Russia mechanism of additional financing in the social sphere in details. Besides you can find a perfect selection on the matter that concerns almost all of our readers that is protection of copyright. Passing of Part VI of the Russian Federation Civil Code by the State Duma in December produced an ambiguous reaction of experts. What will be the destiny of the copyright in future? And what can you do now if you noticed that your works are copied? By the way, we are only happy when our texts leave our journal: it means that they hit the mark and respond people’s expectations. We have only one request – don’t forget to specify the source. Julia Nerush
